Saving Face Craniofacial Laboratory was set up to address the need for high-end craniafacial prostheses and to supply laboratory support for orthognathic surgery and dental implantology. Located in the heart of town at the Camden Medical Centre, the laboratory provides a convenient access for patients who may require fitting and colouration of custommade and specialised prostheses.

Finger and Auricular silicone prostheses are custom-made and painted by
our experienced technologists. |
The laboratory provides anaplastology services, which is the fabrication of life-like silicone prostheses, such as orbital (eye), auricular (ear) and nasal (nose) prostheses. In addition, we also provide support for hand and reconstructive surgery, including silicone fingers and hand prosthetic work. On special request the facility is also able to support the construction of prostheses for other areas of the body.

Our technologists are also able to shape titanium cranial mesh for skull contour reconstruction and have been supporting the neurosurgeon with contoured mesh for cranioplasty. With CT scan data and the help of computer planning and visualisation, we are also able to produce mesh to replicate missing bony contour, to assist the surgeon in reconstructing skull deformities.
The facility also provides technical support for oral maxillofacial surgery. We are able to carry out orthognathic model surgery for post-surgical evaluation, as well as produce acrylic surgical wafers to guide the surgeon in accurately positioning the jaws intraoperatively. For segmental osteotomies, we can also shape custom-fit arch bars, both to stabilise, as well as localise, the bony segments.

The use of titanium prevents 'scatter'
of the images when CT scans are taken. |

Our laboratory also produces splints for sleep apnoea, temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD) and bruxism. Our technologists are familiar with a variety of splint designs for TMD and are also able to fashion mandibular repositioning splints for the treatment of obstructive sleep apnoea.
We also specialise in removable prosthodontics. We fabricate both partial and full dentures. For patients who have had maxillectomy surgeries we are also able to fabricate obturators to aid in facial aesthetics, speech and swallowing. Our laboratory also produces orthodontic retainers as well as functional appliances.
For dental implantology, we are able to produce Integrated Abutment Crowns (IACs) using state-of-the- art DRM Diamond Crown composite. Implant surgical stents to guide the surgeon are also made in the facility. For our stents, titanium guide sleeves may be specified not only for pilot surgical drills, but also for a subsequent drill sizes. This ensures accurate implant placement. Our technologists are familiar with the conversion of CT scan data into surgical guides for implant insertion. We are also conversant with rapid prototyping technology and the fabrication of acrylic stereolithography models for implant planning and placement. We are therefore able to provide both bone and implant supported surgical guides for accurate and fussfree surgery.
